On Monday, Oct. 26, the Panhellenic Council of PSU hosted its annual Big Pink Volleyball tournament to support breast cancer awareness. Designed as an all-campus effort to bring students together for a worldwide cause, all student organizations could participate. Teams were made up of no more than 6 players, and there was a 50- dollar entrance fee.

The event drew active participation from members of PSU sororities and fraternities. Freshman nursing major Morgan Cohee, who is a new member of Tri Sigma, shared what it means to see all of Panhellenic unite under one cause.

“It’s really cool to see everyone come together for breast cancer awareness because it is a very big issue,” Cohee said. “I personally know people who have had breast cancer.”

Cohee also stated that there are numerous reasons she went to share her support.

“I wanted to go out and support my chapter and my friends,” Cohee said. “I honestly just wanted to watch them play; I think it’s so fun to watch my friends have fun.”

The underlying message was there on and off the court; Cohee said that under this umbrella of supporting breast cancer, everyone being together is what is so important.

“It’s awesome to see everyone come together and support each other through all the games.”

Cohee shared that events like these are important for not only Greek life, but also overall campus culture.

“Events like these are really important for Greek life and culture; they bring everyone together,” Cohee said. “Everyone can meet more people because not everyone has met each other yet, so it’s very nice to get everyone together and have fun.”
