Pitt State Cross country has had an incredibly strong start to its season on both sides of the sport. The men’s team has been dominant so far, with first- and second-place finishes. The women have also been dominant, with a second-place finish and a sixth-place finish as a team due to testing depth rotation.
On the men’s side, they have yet to show weakness in their running game, and the Gorillas pose a threat to the rest of the nation in cross country. The Gorillas finished second at the Distance After Dark meet, which is the first meet of the season. Freshman Brody Deniston led the team with a strong showing, finishing second at the meet. The Gorillas finished first at the second meet of the season, which was the Missouri Southern Stampede. Deniston led the team again, proving to be an incredibly strong runner for the Gorillas.
On the women’s side, the team used the first match to test its depth, as many additions came in over the offseason. The Gorillas finished sixth overall at the Distance After Dark meet. Freshman Brooke Hedger led the Gorillas. The Gorillas bounced back strong at the Missouri Southern Stampede, finishing second overall as a team.
