The Pittsburg Area Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma (Tri Sigma) invites members of the media and community to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Tri Sigma chapter house, located at 1901 S. Joplin Street in Pittsburg, on Saturday, November 1, at 9:30 a.m.
The new home marks a major milestone for Tri Sigma following a five-year fundraising campaign supported by alumnae, parents, and friends of the sorority. The house, constructed by Arck Construction of Pittsburg, Kansas, will provide residential housing for 25 collegiate members beginning with the Spring 2026 semester at Pittsburg State University.
The ribbon cutting will include remarks from chapter and university representatives, followed by tours of the new facility. Members of the community, Tri Sigma alumnae, and local media are encouraged to attend.
Photo and video opportunities will be available throughout the event.

About Sigma Sigma Sigma
Founded in 1898 at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, Sigma Sigma Sigma is a national sorority dedicated to promoting personal growth, leadership, scholarship, and service. Tri Sigma is a transformative and inclusive space where women build lifelong friendships, learn to navigate and excel in today’s ever-changing landscape, and inspire meaningful change in the world. The organization has more than 100 collegiate chapters and 90 alumnae chapters nationwide.
Tri Sigma first opened its chapter at Pittsburg State University in 1922 and has been an active part of the university and Pittsburg community for more than a century.
Sigma Serves Children
Since 1951, Tri Sigma has dedicated itself to supporting children’s health initiatives. The sorority’s philanthropic legacy began with the Robbie Page Memorial Fund, originally established to fund polio research. As polio was eradicated, this mission evolved into supporting play therapy programs—using music, art, animals, and other creative therapies to help hospitalized children understand and manage their illnesses.
Tri Sigma Foundation
Through the generosity of members, the Tri Sigma Foundation continues this mission by awarding grants to hospitals, clinics, and research programs that provide therapeutic play opportunities in local communities. The Foundation also funds scholarships and leadership development programs that empower members to serve and lead with purpose.
March of Dimes Partnership
Tri Sigma proudly partners with the March of Dimes, working to ensure every child and mother has the best possible start in life. Members advocate for maternal and infant health, raise awareness in their communities, and participate in national initiatives such as Military Baby Showers and donations of essential newborn items.
