As a dog owner, I’ve always made sure to attend to my pets in the most nurturing way possible. My entire life, I have seen people that are totally irresponsible when it comes to owning and being responsible for the life and well-being of an entirely different living being. There’s a big difference in being a responsible caretaker and a neglectful one, especially when it comes to the care of animals.
While there is a large amount of people that take great care of the pets that they own, there’s also a lot of people who couldn’t care less about the life that they had taken into their own hands. Owners sometimes grow a complex in their mind that puts them on a pedestal above a creature that only depends on the person that it entrusts.
The number of dogs I’ve interacted with in my life has only ever brightened the way I view dogs’ personality and the relationship between the common human and a dog. There is a therapeutic aspect of having someone in your life that will never judge you for a single thing you ever go through. Some of the most understanding and smart beings end up being domesticated dogs and there is so much information to back that up.
Dogs are smart enough to be trained to emotionally support a human and are some of the most intelligent creatures on the planet. The fact that someone could look into the eyes of something so helpless and not be sensible about what their mind is constantly running through. I feel like since dogs are such a common animal in society that their intelligence can be undermined.
Dreams are an interesting aspect of dogs that bring the closeness of dogs and humans that helps relate to us so well. While dreaming, dogs have similar experiences to humans except from the animal perspective. Sleeping away, the experience during their sleep cycle could theoretically mimic the situations they stumble upon while awake like playing or chasing. This experience that humans and dogs share shows an intimate sign of togetherness that separates less intelligent animals apart.
The reason humans don’t deserve a companion like dogs is because many owners end up losing the appreciation for them that they once had. People get burnt out because it can be hard to maintain sometimes, but no dog should have to be forgotten or dumped because the person in control of them didn’t realize what they took them in for.
