The Gorilla Activity Board (GAB) hosted the Valentine Make and Take on Feb. 6. Students were invited to paint dishware to de-stress and offer a creative outlet. There were multiple locations throughout campus, including Axe Library, the KTC, and the U-Club.

The idea came organically, after finding extra dishware from a rage room event.

“Honestly, we just have a lot of dishes left over from the homecoming committee when they were doing like the rage room outside and really just came up in meeting, Tricia Combs, senior in criminal justice and communications and general member of GAB said. “We thought people would really like it and it was a good way to get rid of some extra stuff that we had left out.”

Kayla Seiler freshman in nursing said it was nice to have a relaxing event in between classes.

“It’s just nice coming from like going from class to class and all the workload and coming, being able to come here and just like relax and meet people, talk to your friends,” Seiler said.

GAB has other events planned for the rest of the semester.

“We are helping with the Scott Speaker series as they’re bringing in Rain Wilson. That’s going to be later in April,” Combs said. “We’re doing Shamrock Bango in March. And then in collaboration with the ABC Trivia Club, we’re hosting Taylor Swift Triviaoke, that’s going to be next Tuesday in the U Club.”
Bananarama, arguably GAB biggest event is set for May,

I think this year we’ve been able to see a lot more students get excited about the in-person events again. And so seeing everybody like turning up, even when we did silent disco, like I know they had good turnout for silent discuss. So things like that I think I’m excited to see.”
