A steaming bowl of pho takes on a bold twist with tender steak, savory dumplings, and a kick of chili oil. This comforting dish blends traditional Vietnamese flavors with a spicy homemade touch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound steak, cut into small cubes
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 small onion, sliced thin
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked rice noodles
  • 3 to 4 dumplings (beef or vegetable)
  • 2 tablespoons chili pepper sauce
  • 1 to 2 fresh green chili peppers, sliced
  • Dried herbs or parsley for garnish
  • Lemon slices for serving

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, bring beef broth to a boil. Add steak pieces, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
  2. Add the celery and onion and cook another 5-7 minutes until softened.

  3. In a separate pot, cook the rice noodles according to package directions, then drain.

  4. Add the dumplings to the broth and cook until they float to the surface, about 5 minutes.

  5. Divide the noodles into bowls. Ladle the hot broth, beef, and dumplings over the noodles.

  6. Top with chili sauce, sliced green peppers, and dried herbs. Serve with lemon slices on the side.

The mix of spicy chili oil, citrus, and tender steak gives the pho a rich, comforting flavor that warms from the inside out.
