April is full of bustling events on campus, with many organizations planning on holding activities for students. To find more details about upcoming events, visit Gorilla Engage online. The program is a resource for students provided by Pitt State to keep students informed about upcoming events happening on campus.
One of the oldest traditions found at Pittsburg State is Apple Day. This year, the event will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 3. Students will be able to receive free merchandise like shirts and stickers, as well as participate in outdoor games and have a chance to receive a scholarship.
Thank A Gorilla scavenger hunts are back on campus, with further chances of receiving scholarships available. The purpose of the event is to recognize the donors of the university, all while providing a fun activity for students to participate in. During the week of April 2, five different items will be included in a scavenger hunt for that specific day, giving students an opportunity to find them in exchange for prizes.
The GoPITT! Fest celebration will be held on Saturday, April 6 starting around 5 p.m. Music, food trucks and outdoor activities will be available outside of the Bicknell Center of the Arts. Students are advised to bring a lawn chair and come ready to enjoy a night of fun and live bands.
Pitt State will be holding the Leadership Awards ceremony on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m. Among the honors available are scholarships, as well as individual awards like the Outstanding Senior Award and the Golden Gorilla. Attendees are required to RSVP before the event to ensure their spot.
The Psychology and Counseling Society will host a discussion on the topic of dreams on Monday, April 8. Discussions will vary from theories about dreaming to personal dream experiences from participants. This is scheduled to take place in the Overman Student Center in Kansas Room 2.
Teacher Appreciation Week will be celebrated on April 9. Students interested in showing their appreciation to educators have an opportunity to write small messages and give small gifts to teachers in Pittsburg’s interlocal school district.
“Evaluating Job Offers and Negotiating Salaries” will be held on Tuesday, April 16. This event workshop is hosted by the Office of Career Development, focusing on gaining communication skills to utilize after graduation during the pursuit of a career.
Most organizations will be holding weekly meetings for students interested in getting involved. For further details about activities happening in April, please visit Gorilla Engage through the GUS portal, or call the Gorilla Activities Board at (620) 235-4802.
