The Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce is officially taking nominations for the 2021 Small Business of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at a banquet on May 20th, 2021. The Small Business of the Year for 2020 was awarded to Riggs Chiropractic, Drs. Kayla and Tyler Riggs.
Julie Reams, Membership and Special Events Director for the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce said this year has been especially difficult for the small business owners in our community.
“As you know, this past year we have seen the strengths of our local businesses as they have navigated through these unprecedented times,” Reams said. “Now is the time to recognize these businesses for their achievements.”
The winner receives an award, press exposure, and a professional video made by KOAM that will be shown at the banquet regarding their business.
“One of the most exciting and rewarding experiences for a small business in the Pittsburg area is to be honored by peers for a job well done,” Reams said.
The award is given in recognition of considerable contributions to the economy and the overall progress of the Crawford County community. The selection is based on evidence of successful operation of a business, as well as significant contributions to the community.
“Please take a moment and nominate a deserving business,” Reams said. “Fill out the form, along with a letter explaining why you think this business deserves recognition.”
Nominations are being accepted through February 18, 2021, by mail, fax or email. Ream said if anyone has any questions about a business, they should call her and she will help.
Nomination criteria includes owner residency in Crawford County, a maximum of 50 full time employees including all locations, a minimum of four years in business, business location within Crawford County, and good standing with the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce for two years prior to nomination. Nominated businesses shall not be past recipients of the award. Other criteria used in selection will be leadership, business acumen, significant achievements, community involvement, and diversity and equal opportunity employment.
