It has long been featured in midnight showings for more than 30 years, even though the movie was a bust when it debuted in 1975. That was before fans began to participate in the movie in 1977, when people started singing along with songs and dancing in theater aisles, which has made “Rocky Horror Picture Show” the longest running theatrical release in film history.
