Jessica Macy also did well at the meet in St. Paul, Minn. Volkert crossed the finish line in a time of 25 minutes, 11 seconds in the 8-kilometer race. “I was pleased with everyone’s race,” said Russ Jewett, head coach. “We had a race plan and everyone carried it out well. She won the season’s opening race with a time of 16:52 at the Missouri Southern Stampede Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21, and helped her team to a second-place finish with 59 points. Southwest Baptist won the meet with a total of 34 points. The race consisted of not only the current Pitt State runners but runners from past years who have run cross country at PSU.
