Bogina qualifies for National Championships

| Michael Bauer sports editor | This week junior Austin Bogina will be competing in the 2014 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships in Louisville, Ky. Bogina, from Arma, is the lone PSU cross country runner to qualify as an individual for the national championships after placing 13th at the Central Regional on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Wayne, Neb. He finished the 10-kilometer race in 31:55.40. As a team, the Gorilla men finished sixth while the women were eighth. This will mark the first time Bogina has run at the national championships. Both the men and women placed third as a team. “I overall feel pretty good,” said Russ Jewett, head coach. “I am proud of both the men’s team and the women’s team. Frazell, from Iola, booted three field goals to help the Gorillas to a 23-13 win over the Missouri Western State Griffons on Saturday, Oct. 4, in St. Joseph, Mo. Frazell kicked field goals of 25, 25 and 34 yards in the game. His first kick gave the Gorillas a 17-10 lead in the second quarter. Cross country hosts annual alumni run

| Michael Bauer sports editor | The Pittsburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams made their unofficial start to the 2014 season with the annual Alumni Run on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Countryside Golf Course. After another hot week in Pittsburg, temperatures dipped into the 60s for the early morning race, but the cold front did little to dampen spirits. A mixture of current and previous PSU runners competed. The men’s race was 6 kilometers while the women’s course was 4.
