Huskey takes home $100 Open Mic Night prize | Casey Matlock reporter | When Shannon Meck got on stage to do a rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen,” he felt his personal connection to the song power his a cappella performance. “It is a very important song to me and my family because they cried their eyes out the first time I sang the song to them,” said Meck, freshman in communication. “It was a heartwarming moment for them and for me because of how powerfully the song came across.” Meck’s act formed part of Open Mic Night, held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the University Club of Overman Student Center. Moon Festival Friday The PSU Chinese Culture Club will sponsor a Moon Festival at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Gorilla Village on the Pittsburg State University campus. The event is free and open to the public. The Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated each year in China when the moon is largest in the sky. Deadline Monday for photo contest The deadline for the National Gorillagraphic photography contest for students who studied abroad is Monday, Oct. 1.
