The intramural sports program is hosting a team handball tournament for men’s and women’s leagues. The deadline for registration is Sept. 7, all entries will be made via IMLeagues.

Games will be scheduled Monday through Thursdays with the tournament beginning Monday, Sept. 15.
Legal services available
The Student Legal Services Office is located in Room 205 of the Overman Student Center and has legal counsel and student employees ready to assist students with their needs. Hours are posted on the office door.
Gorilla Crossing ooperating hours
The Gorilla Crossing in Overman Student Center has extended hours of operation, which went into effect Monday, Aug. 25.
The hours are as follows: 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. The Gorilla Crossing is closed Saturday and Sunday.
New ACIS chair
Peter Rosen has taken over as the chair for the Department of Accounting and Computer Information Systems. Along with overseeing the ACIS department, Rosen also teaches computer information and management information systems courses in the Kelce College of Business.

Fraternity receives high honors
Phi Sigma Kappa received the Fred Schwengel Most Improved Chapter Award, an honor coveted by the fraternity for many years.
For his leadership in guiding Phi Sigma Kappa to nationally recognized status, James Saltat, chapter president, received a prestigious honor of his own: the Order of the Diamond Circle, the highest honor an undergraduate can receive from the fraternity.
Starting Aug. 25, Phi Sigma Kappa will begin its annual Trampoline-a-Thon philanthropy event on the Oval. Proceeds will help send a local Special Olympics athlete to the World Games in Los Angeles in 2015.
Winzer named regional VP for Phi Kappa Phi
PSU engineering technology professor Randy Winzer has been named a regional vice president for Phi Kappa Phi, the oldest honor society in the U.S.
Winzer will serve as the society’s vice president of the south central region, which includes Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 213 at Pittsburg State and past president from 2004-2013.
Little Balkans Days

Former PSU football player scores first NFL touchdown
Former PSU wide receiver John Brown scored his first touchdown for the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Aug. 24, against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals won the game 19-13. Brown finished the night with a team-high four catches for 56 yards.
Ice cream social
An ice cream social sponsored by the Graphics Arts Club and Gamma Epsilon Tau Graphics honors society will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in the courtyard of the Kansas Technology Center.
The social is open to all students.
Seats are available on both the regular Senate and Justice Board of the Student Government Association.

The PSU Department of Art and Student Art Advisory Council’s annual potluck lunch will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29.
Hotdogs, hamburgers and buns will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring a dish of their choosing, but may still attend if they are unable to.
Lockers within Porter Hall will also be available for check-out.
