Football art
to be displayed
The giant footballs of SEK Art Fest 2014 will soon make their way to downtown Pittsburg.
The annual community art exhibit will go on display Friday morning, June 20. All 24 footballs will be downtown initially, but a few will later move to semi-permanent locations throughout Crawford County.
The evening before the footballs are placed downtown, a reception for the artists and underwriters will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Miller Airport Hangar at the Atkinson Municipal Airport.
The footballs will remain on display downtown until Oct. 12, the day after the Pittsburg State homecoming football game at Carnie Smith Stadium.
A public auction for the footballs will begin at 1 p.m. on Oct. 12 at Pittsburg’s Memorial Auditorium. All proceeds from the auction will benefit future art projects and festivals in Crawford County.
