Farrow named MIAA Field Athlete of the Week

The Pitt State men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the 6th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic on April 12. This was the final home meet of the year for the Gorillas.
Freshman Bo Farrow was named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week.
Farrow won the discus with a throw of 179.5 and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 54-5.25.
Sophomore Garrett Appier finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 52-7.75. Junior Jeff Piepenbrink won the pole vault, clearing 16-5.5; freshman Jayce Phelps placed second with a clearance of 16-5.5.
Junior Marquise Cushon won the triple jump with a mark of 50-4.75. Senior Steven Mann finished second in the long jump with a mark of 23-11. Freshman John Blazevic finished second in the javelin with a throw of 195-9 and freshman Jordan Morton finished fourth with a throw of 195-8.
Senior Shane Lundquist finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 169-5 and senior Cody Holland finished fifth with a throw of 169-4.
On the track, freshman Bryce Starks won the 100 meters with a time of 10.58.
The Gorillas took the top three positions in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with junior Talon Thompson winning with a time of 10:01.40. Sophomore Austin Bogina finished second with a time of 10:05.58, and sophomore Tony Weiss finished third with a time of 10:10.07.
Sophomore Casey Steinmiller won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.98. Freshman Andrew Rodgers finished third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:00.08.
On the women’s side, sophomore Antqunita Reed won the triple jump with an outdoor school record jump of 41-6.5. Reed also won the 100 meters with a time of 12.00.
Freshman Heather Glenn finished second in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-4.5. Sophomore Darian Stancell finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 166-1, and sophomore Aimi Orton finished second in the javelin with a throw of 143-8.
Freshman Emilyn Dearman finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.95. Sophomore Cassie Caswell finished third in the shot put with a throw of 44-11.5.
Sophomore Jessica Cisneros finished third in the javelin with a throw of 128-0. Senior Jessica Macy finished second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:46.39; senior Casey Epps finished third with a time of 4:48.67.
The Gorillas’ next event will be at the Jayhawk Relays on April 17
