Volleyball hosts scrimmage at Pittsburg High

Michael Bauer | sports editor The Pittsburg State volleyball team held its annual scrimmage at Pittsburg High School on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Megan Mallatt Activity Center. The scrimmage did not feature an official game or add to statistics, but every player on the team saw time on the court in front of more than 100 people in the stands. After the scrimmage, team members signed autographs for fans. “Wonderful fans,” said Ibraheem Suberu, head coach. “It was packed, looking up (at the stands) and they were very much into it. Offense scores 22 points in scrimmage Michael Bauer | sports editor In one of the Pittsburg State football team’s scrimmages, the White team managed to put up 22 points over the Red team on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Carnie Smith Stadium. Unlike previous scrimmages, Saturday’s game changed things up with some new rules by keeping the scores but not changing positions. White remained as offense and Red defense throughout the game. Another added rule made it impossible to tackle the quarterbacks unless they were carrying the ball. “We had a period of high and live in the beginning of the two-minute deal and then the rest was basically live, except for the quarterbacks,” said Tim…
