Pancake feed Saturday

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is having a pancake feed from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Applebee’s. Tickets are $5 and are on sale until the day of the event. To purchase a ticket, e-mail grogers@gus.pittstate.edu or call 816-820-8613.

Canvas for students

Beginning June 2012, Pitt State will switch to the new learning management system Canvas.  Students enrolled in summer courses will be especially interested in learning the new system.  Right now, any interested student can access Canvas 101, an online tutorial introducing students to features such as setting notification preferences, uploading assignments, participating in discussions, taking tests and viewing grades.  Access Canvas 101 at:

https://pittstate.instructure.com/courses/151308.  Students can access Canvas via the link on the Pitt State homepage by simply using their GUS login and password.  Questions regarding the system may be directed to the Gorilla Geeks at ext. 4600.

Love 4 Lauren 5K Saturday

The Love 4 Lauren 5K is scheduled at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Wilderness Park. Registration will open at 8 a.m. To preregister, go to www.love4lauren.com. All proceeds from the race will go to the family of Lauren Renfrow, a PSU student who was injured while studying abroad.

Karaoke on Thursday

Gorillas in Your Midst is having a karaoke night 8-10 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in the U-Club in the Overman Student Center. There will be refreshments and giveaways.

Odunde Africa Saturday

The African Student Association is hosting Odunde Africa, an event celebrating African culture, fashion, dance, music and food, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in McCray Hall. After the event, a variety of African food will be served. Tickets for the meal are $5.
