The Vinyl Revival
Caitlin TaylorCollegio Reporter Vinyl records, popular back in the 1950s, have started to come back in popularity, especially to college students. Bailee Claypool, sophomore in pre-med, started collecting records about a year ago and already has anywhere from 50-100 records in her collection. “I randomly started collecting records,” Claypool said. “I really like classic rock music, and instead of downloading illegally off the Internet, they (vinyl records) are pretty easy to get a hold of.” Claypool says she thinks vinyl records have become a lot more popular. At least seven people she knows collect them. “It also depends on the type of music you like if vinyl records are worth having,” Claypool said. Claypool and her…
A pot o’ crimson and gold
Happy St. Patrick’sDay! Alex Mott Collegio Reporter St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the life of a fifth-century Catholic bishop, and is steeped in hundreds of years of Irish tradition. But PSU students are taking the holiday as their own. Caitlin Borel, sophomore in elementary education, says her family has a number of annual customs for the March 17 holiday. “My mom makes green eggs and pancakes,” Borel said. “We also go to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Kansas City.” Ethan Williams, freshman in automotive technology, says his family has a similar tradition. “My mom always makes green eggs and ham for breakfast, and we have corned beef and cabbage for dinner,” Williams said. “We…
There’s an app for that

It is a puzzle video game in which players slingshot birds at green pigs in an effort to recover stolen eggs. The levels get increasingly complex, with different types of birds and structures protecting the pigs from harm. “I love Angry Birds,” said Stephanie Currie, sophomore in psychology. “I play it over and over.” Because the game features so many different levels, Currie says it is satisfying to play and a bargain for the price. “I’m at the point now where I’m trying to get perfect scores on every level,” Currie…
‘The Eagle’ soars
Bartholomew Klick Copy Editor It’s turning out to be a great year for movies. “The Eagle” has a solid plot, two well-defined main characters, breathtaking environments, and an attention to detail that will please even the most pedantic history buff. Adapted from a 1950s children’s book titled “The Eagle of the Ninth,” the movie’s script translated the story very well to film, and while there are certain artifacts that betray the book’s original target audience, the movie is as enjoyable for adults as it would be for young boys. The movie follows Roman legionnaire Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) trying to reclaim his father’s honor, in the form of a lost, symbolic golden eagle, in ancient…
