  Garett McCullough Sports Writer The Pittsburg State University’s men’s basketball team (13-11) went into their game last night against the No. 18 Fort Hays State Tigers in a “win and in” situation to clinch a post-season berth, but they would not get it.  The Gorillas fell to the Tigers by a final score of 70 to 63, and it was the final home game of the season for Muff’s squad. But, even with the loss, the Gorillas will have another chance to clinch a post-season slot once again this weekend on the road at University of Nebraska Omaha. Senior Gretchen Clark cleared 5-feet, 8.75 inches in the high jump competition, placing second and securing her spot at nationals this. “She did not miss until 5-foot, 10 inches,” high-jump coach Matt Brown said. “Her first attempt was real close, and I’ve been telling her all season that I thought she was a 5-10 jumper.” Clark, who spends her time on the ground as a student teacher, is quickly becoming one of…

When tragedy struck the team last week, it responded with an upset win over 25th-ranked Emporia State in the final seconds. On Saturday their emotions wore them down and so did the 16th-ranked Lady Blues of Washburn. This Friday, both men’s and women’s teams will travel together, to graduate assistant Tisharria Huggins’ funeral.
